The London Silverbacks are preparing for their 8th season as part of the NAFL (North American Football League), a men's minor league, American rules tackle football league with nearly 100 teams in North America. One of only three Canadian teams in the league the 'Backs consist of players fresh out of college and university to former professional players. Our purpose is to give Canadian men the exposure and opportunities previously unavailable to them while providing quality family.
London is currently home to the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League, who play at the John Labatt Centre, the host arena of the 2005 Memorial Cup, and were both 2004-2005 OHL and Memorial Cup Champions. They are by far the most popular sports team in the city.
Over the years, the team has had a lot of different names. When they became a team in 1948, they were considered one of the best teams in Intercounty history. They went on to win the Ontario Baseball Association, the Canadian amateur men's championship and the Can-Am North American championship.
We would like to wish the Western Mustang Football team all the best in their new season. Let's bring the Yates trophy back to London.
